IChemE signs up first Indian Corporate Partner

22nd February 2012

Larsen & Toubro has been named as IChemE’s newest Corporate Partner, following the accreditation of the company’s training scheme last month, the Institution’s first primary site accreditation in India.

IChemE president Sir William Wakeham presented Larsen & Toubro board member and president, K Venkataramanan with the company’s Silver Corporate Partner certificate at a function in Mumbai on last week.

The technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services conglomerate is one of the largest in India. L&T Hydrocarbon – part of the Larsen & Toubro conglomerate - employs around 450 chemical and process engineers.

Venkataramanan was also presented with a certificate of Honorary Fellowship at the reception in recognition of his service to the profession.

IChemE ceo David Brown says: “Our Corporate Partner programme is designed to recognise those employers that best support their employees and the wider profession and we’re pleased to add Larsen & Toubro to that list.

“Having the opportunity to also recognise the passion and far-reaching personal contribution to the raising of professional chemical engineering standards by K Venkataramanan was also very important to IChemE,” adds Brown.

IChemE’s Corporate Partner programme recognises industry employers that demonstrate a commitment to both the profession and IChemE. Other current corporate partners are AstraZeneca (Silver) and Sellafield Ltd (Gold).
