The Chemical Engineer in the palm of your hand

11th September 2017

A new mobile and tablet-friendly website has been launched by The Chemical Engineer allowing the magazine to be read anywhere at any time.

From September onwards, content published in The Institution of Chemical Engineers’ (IChemE) popular magazine will be fully accessible via a brand new smart-phone compatible website. Members and subscribers can keep up to date with the latest news and features from across the chemical, biochemical and process engineering sectors at home, work or on the go.

The new site www.thechemicalengineer.com is easy to navigate and allows readers to read the latest issue of the magazine - and for the first time download it to read offline.

Adam Duckett, Editor of The Chemical Engineer, said: “The new site allows us to give readers a great reading experience wherever they may be. In addition to our regular daily news updates and all of the content found in the monthly magazine, the new platform will deliver exclusive opinion pieces, practical ‘how-to’ features and expert-guidance to support continuing professional development.”

Content exclusive to the site on launch includes behind the scenes access to Norway’s pioneering carbon capture and storage programme; guidance on communication for engineers; practical advice on industrial gas applications; and thought leadership on transformational energy technologies.

“In the months ahead, we’ll be including regular new content from expert contributors. It’s well worth a visit, and a site that you’ll want to bookmark,” Duckett added.

The new platform allows readers to scan the latest job vacancies and access the magazine archives including popular features such as Chemical engineers who changed the world.

Readers can also sign up to the new weekly email alerts to get the latest content sent through to their inbox.

This is the first stage in a full-scale revamp of IChemE’s websites. The lack of smart phone compatibility was identified as a major issue by members and this functionality is set to become a standard feature for IChemE’s web presence. The iOS and Android smart phone apps will be discontinued.

IChemE members will receive an email containing a randomly generated password that will allow them to log in to the website for the first time.
