Biography 

Les is Chair of the Education Subcommittee and has over thirty years’ experience in industry.

Having an MEng and PhD from the University of Cambridge, he worked in a variety of roles at BP, including being Senior Advisor in Chemical Engineering for BP’s Research and Technology group until 2021.  He is an inventor or co-inventor on nine patent families and author or co-author on eleven papers.

He is now a part-time independent consultant, mainly advising start-up companies in the renewables technology sector.

A Fellow of IChemE, Les has taken part in university accreditation processes since 2010.  He has previously taken active roles in the Catalysis and Reaction Engineering SIG and the former UK Research Committee, and is a mentor for multiple Andrew Fellowship recipients.
