Valero Energy Corporation is an international manufacturer and marketer of transportation fuels and petrochemical products. Valero is a Fortune 50 company based in San Antonio, Texas, and it operates 15 petroleum refineries with a combined throughput capacity of approximately 3.1 million barrels per day and 14 ethanol plants with a combined production capacity of 1.73 billion gallons per year.

Valero acquired the Pembroke Refinery in Wales from Chevron, along with related marketing and logistics assets throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, marking the company’s entry into Western Europe under Valero Energy Ltd. The Pembroke plant is one of Western Europe’s largest and most complex refineries, with a total throughput capacity of 270,000 barrels per day, and a Nelson complexity rating of 11.8. The plant employs more than 500 staff, plus hundreds of terms contractors.
