Solomon is Professor of Process and Energy Systems in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Sheffield, UK. He graduated from King’s College London with an MSci (Hons) in Mathematics and gained a PhD in Chemical Engineering at University College London (UCL). This was followed by postdoctoral research, focusing on carbon capture and storage, and teaching positions also at UCL.

He joined the University of Sheffield in 2015, where he heads a leading research group developing high-fidelity and complexity-based approaches to process modelling, analysis and optimisation, with a particular focus on clean energy technologies and systems. Through this work he has published more than 100 papers in top journals and peer-reviewed conferences, and worked with a range of industrial and government stakeholders to support decision making.
