Webinar: Process Safety – Hydrogen Safety

Webinar: Process Safety – Hydrogen Safety
  • Date From 11th May 2023
  • Date To 11th May 2023
  • Price Free of charge, open to all.
  • Location Online: 12:00 BST. Duration: 1 hour.

Overview

Whether you are interested in understanding the basics, hearing about how hydrogen safety at works on novel applications, or learning how science and research is helping society transit from small demonstration today, through to the full-scale deployment that will be required in the future then this webinar for you.

Due to its flammability, buoyancy, its ability to embrittle metals and other properties that require engineering control, designing a hydrogen system that ensures its safe use can be a challenging process. In this webinar the presenter will explore and put into context some hydrogen safety myths and discuss how to identify and manage the risks associated with Hydrogen. Awareness of hydrogen hazards is critical so that early precautions can be taken, such as designing a reliable hydrogen system.

Gain knowledge and understanding in:

  • Hydrogen Safety
  • How Hydrogen hazards is controlled
  • Understand the introduction and use of hydrogen

Speaker

Azzam Younes, Associate Director, WSP

Azzam Younes is a Chartered chemical engineer. On graduation he joined BG group engineering department and R&D. He has circa 30 years’ experience of working in the process industries mainly in oil and gas. He is an Associate Director with WSP; he has specific interests in process safety and in the safe and reliable operation of offshore and onshore plants. Azzam is currently working with oil and gas industry clients to address issues associated with process safety, LNG, hydrogen and charing HAZOP and HAZID studies. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, and Professional Process Safety Engineer. He has provided a range of services to clients including safety audit, process safety and occupational safety.

Currently, he is the vice chairman and a former chairman of the IChemE’s Aberdeen Member Group, and active member of the branch organising technical seminars, technical visits to branch members. Azzam is an accredited HAZOP chairman, IChemE trained and BP, BG (Shell), CNR, ConocoPhillips (Harbour Energy), Chevron (Ithaca), ABB and Total Approved. He is a volunteer lecturer at Aberdeen University for the MSc in chemical engineering regarding membrane, desalination, and process safety.
