Overview

As chemical engineers, whether Chartered or not, we should all make time for our professional development. Continuing professional development (CPD) is undertaken by the member for their own benefit and to benefit their employer, client and customers. CPD activities can come in many forms including such as self-learning, professional activity, training (formal/educational) or work-based learning.

IChemE’s CPD policy was updated in 2019, in 2017 sampling of the membership began to demonstrate conformance with the policy, and as of 1 Jan 2019, mandatory recording of CPD was introduced by Engineering Council for all CEng registrants.

A webinar is held to help members understand the elements of CPD policy and how the policy supports and encourages members in their CPD activities.

Presenter

Richard Cousins, Senior Process Safety Engineer, BP Upstream Engineering Centre

Richard has been a member of the IChemE Professional Formation Forum for 6 years and is currently the forum member with responsibility for CPD related policy and activities. As part of this role, Richard is the CPD Assessor Panel Lead, working with IChemE to carry out the annual CPD sampling activity.

Format

A one-hour online session: 40 minutes' presentation + 20 minutes' Q&A.
Duration (for CPD recording purposes): up to one hour.

If you are recording mandatory CPD you should refer to your own regulator's requirements as recognition of CPD hours may vary.
