Martin Wardrope

  • Position Chair

Martin is a graduate process engineer, working at Harbour Energy based in Aberdeen. With a background in process safety and asset operations, Martin is committed to making tangible change and is excited at the prospect of continually adding value to the industry’s net zero journey.

Martin studied at the University of Aberdeen, graduating with a MEng degree. Following his studies, Martin led Harbour Energy’s virtual reality-based major accident hazard awareness programme which focussed on hazard identification and risk mitigation to upskill staff, third parties and stakeholders within the oil and gas industry. The programme was rolled out across the UK and internationally, and was recognised globally, winning a IChemE Global Award in 2022 for the training and development category.

Outside of work, Martin volunteers as a STEM Ambassador and is eager to see the NECC develop – aspiring to increase our exposure as a community, continue fostering diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) within the sector and championing our unwavering commitment to the energy transition and net-zero. “As a committee of early career professionals, we can drive change, amplify voices and represent a generation of chemical engineers committed to a sustainable future.”
