Overview

Teesside University's net zero building does research and development targeting net zero. It was opened in 2023 and IChemE have been keen to organise a site visit. Dr Ellis Marshall, a lead researcher will give a talk on net zero Industry Innovation: Recycling and valorisation of plastics.

Ellis Marshall, Business Partnership Manager, NEICC

Ellis is the Business Partnership Manager – Net Zero at Teesside University’s Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre. He serves as the vital link between industry, research and higher education, fostering powerful collaboration between academic and the business world. Ellis is passionate about promoting international collaboration and fostering innovative solutions that drive societal and environmental change.

Ellis is an expert in the field circular economy, he focuses on scaling up of recycling and recovery technologies from lab to industrial scale. With a background in the chemical sector, he works on developing innovative solutions for a greener and more sustainable future. His research interests include critical mineral recovery, metal-organic frameworks, utilisation of carbon, production of hydrogen from waste and plastics recycling. Ellis works closely with industry to valorise waste streams, develop circular economy models and scale-up technologies.
