Overview

Roger and Guy will talk about Uniper and its strategy towards decarbonisation, focusing on two key aspects in the UK; low carbon dispatchable power generation and low carbon hydrogen production. They will explore the work developed to date, how this applies to Uniper’s assets, and developing projects across the UK and how this has the potential support decarbonisation in the UK.

This webinar is for anyone interested in the future direction of decarbonising UK's power generation sector.

Presenters

Roger Brandwood, Technical Lead for Low Emissions Plant and Programme Manager, Uniper Technologies Group

Roger studied chemical engineering at the University of Nottingham and, following graduation, joined PowerGen Power Technology. In a career spanning over 20 years with Powergen, E.ON and now Uniper Roger has worked on major flue gas cleaning plant retrofits, such as the Ratcliffe Environmental Upgrade and the Ironbridge Biomass conversion, as well as in regulatory implementation and the innovation area. Today, Roger is the technical lead for the Low Emission Plant at Uniper Technologies and is engaged in the development and deployment of carbon capture and hydrogen projects as well as acting as the programme manager for the CCUS stream in Uniper’s Making Net Zero Possible project. Roger is a Chartered Engineer of IChemE.

Guy Philips, Business Development Manager, Uniper Hydrogen UK

Guy has been in the energy industry for over 20 years, starting at Transco then National Grid, before joining E.ON and subsequently Uniper. In this time, Guy has focussed on large scale generation project development, across a range of technologies, including being a member of the London Array offshore windfarm project team. Guy has extensive knowledge of wholesale energy market and network regulation, and over five years of policy development experience. Guy joined Uniper’s Hydrogen business line in 2020 and has lead focus on Uniper’s hydrogen production development projects in the UK.
