Overview

This presentation will review the insurance aspects of risk management, giving an overview of the process utilised by insurance company risk engineers to assess the risks associated with operational oil and gas facilities and construction of new facilities.

The presentation will cover the benefits for both the insurance company and the client of a collaborative approach, so that the maximum estimated loss can be evaluated and a qualitative assessment of the risks posed by the operation can be made. The process includes reviews of hardware, management systems and emergency controls and touches on losses and what lessons that clients and insurers can learn from them.

Ian Clarke - Swiss Re Corporate Solutions

Ian has a BEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Adelaide and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.  He has 25 years’ experience in risk engineering of operational oil and gas facilities and construction projects for insurance companies, both on and offshore. Prior to that he spent ten years in oil and gas exploration, refining and risk management in industry.
