Overview

An evening event with technical presentation by Process Engineers from Synergy Engineering and time for networking over refreshments.

This event is free and open to all. Bring along your colleagues and introduce them to the Oil & Natural Gas Special Interest Group (SONG) and to IChemE.

Topic

In the modern oil and gas industry, the overall process of delivering oil and gas to users has to be made faster, cheaper and efficient as the oil price in the current market remains competitive. The big players in the oil and gas industry are constantly seeking an innovative and cost-saving method to reduce oil and gas exploration cost, production downtime as well as optimization of their process. Engineering specialists come into the picture to push the limit of the industry when challenges occur.

There will be a brief introduction of specialist engineering studies and its value to clients during the engineering design phase. In this event, the focus will be on gas lift injection studies, a common method to recover oil for profit maximization, however, with the risk of wax formation in well tubing and topside piping once the temperature drops below wax formation temperature.

A case study will be illustrated in the presentation to demonstrate the methodology of determining the resulting FTHT after gas lift injection using market available multiphase simulator, the effect of gas lift injection rate on FTHT, and how the outcomes of the analysis ease the process of decision making.

Speaker

Saw Sieh Khim and Leong Ann Tsun, Process Engineers

Saw Sieh Khim and Leong Ann Tsun are Process Engineers from Synergy Engineering Sdn. Bhd. Both of them graduated with a bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and have 5 years of working experience in the oil and gas industry. Their job scope covers process design for wellhead platforms, equipments and valves, utility studies and other specialist engineering studies such as flow assurance, water hammer, flare and radiation study. They have developed high level of skills in using commercial simulation software like OLGA, PIPENET, FLARESIM, ANSYS, HYSYS and PIPESIM throughout their career.

Time

Registration from 17:30 – the event will commence at 18:00 and close at 20:00.
