Overview

A SONG webinar with a technical presentation by the Technical Professional team from PETRONAS.

PFLNG Satu was the first in the world LNG producing floater amidst the risks and challenges of safety, marine conditions, water sloshing movements, confined plot space, and weight. Safety is of utmost importance whereby the processing unit with hydrocarbon inventory is processed on the deck while LNG is stored underneath in the hull.

In ensuring safety, inherently safer equipment and technology had to be selected at the beginning of the project.

Equipment with liquid inventory such as vessels and columns are sensitive to liquid movement when the floater tilts and bends, hence internals that has to be designed to ensure liquid level measurement in vessels such as storage tanks and vessels are accurate under sloshing and water movement on the floater. The columns have to be designed with internal features and margins to ensure there is no vapor bypass in order to meet product specifications continuously.

This presentation will talk about the details of the design of equipment and selection for FLNG.

Speaker

Siti Fauzuna Othman, Process Design Principal, PETRONAS

Siti Fauzuna is the Principal Process Design Engineer in Group Technical Solutions (GTS) in PETRONAS. She has 23 years of experience in Process Design and Plant Management in the Oil and gas and Specialty Chemicals industry.

She joined PETRONAS in 2007 and has been a Process Lead in a variety of projects from Refinery, Gas to FLNG in PETRONAS. She was involved in the FLNG 1 Project from Feasibility, Basic Design through Detailed Design. She also provided consultancy to FLNG 2 Project.

Prior to that, she worked in Foster Wheeler (Malaysia and UK) in the area of Process Design. Her work has brought her to Equipment Design for various projects and clients in the Oil & Gas industry. Prior to joining Foster Wheeler, she was the Plant Manager in Uniqema (ICI).

She read Chemical Engineering at Imperial College, University of London, UK.
