Webinar: Reservoir Souring and Material Selection

Webinar: Reservoir Souring and Material Selection
  • Date From 10th September 2021
  • Date To 10th September 2021
  • Price Free of charge, open to all.
  • Location Online: 12:00 BST. Duration: 1 hour.

Overview

A review of reservoir souring, how we deploy workflows to define its causes and potential severity, the potential influences on sulphide speciation and phase behaviour, how we mitigate or manage it, and what are its consequences for material selection and topside process efficiency.

Speaker

Christopher Harper, Baker Hughes

Christopher, currently works as the Global SME for production chemistry in the Baker Hughes RTS consultancy group. Chris freely admits he is not a "proper" production chemist, but rather an odd mix of discipline subjects with a strong science and engineering focus. He has been employed in the oil and gas industry for 18 years, and for 15 years much of his work has focussed on reservoir souring investigations in many different countries at both onshore and offshore assets.

The depth of his investigations is always quite varied, ranging from root cause analysis to defining possible mitigations and management strategies, or providing predictions of future microbiologically mediated H2S trends from modelling software, or developing tools for mapping and understanding spatial H2S plume variations over time in non microbiologically sour systems.

Chris has also co-authored numerous papers on sulphide phase behaviour, sulphide mediated material selection, souring studies and souring investigation workflows.
