Overview

ModLife is a European Training Network initiative that brings together 5 leading European universities, 4 global industrial players and 2 SMEs to undertake research and training in the area of innovative bioprocess-product development, optimization, monitoring, and control for life sciences industries. The ultimate goal is the next generation of high performance computing tools and in-situ measurements for increasing efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness of life sciences and processing industries. ModLife helps in realization of the promising potential of life sciences and biotechnology in discovering new products and processes, which match to the human health, nutrition, and wellbeing.

As part of dissemination and engagement with relevant stakeholders, we at ModLife network are organizing the final ModLife conference, to present, discuss, and exchange the latest developments and progress achieved by the network. The conference aims at gathering researchers, engineers and professionals from academia, life science industries with a passion to advance the engineering and science underpinning product and process development in wider life science industries.

The main topics addressed in the workshop will be:

  • methodologies and technologies for online & real-time measurements and data integration across products and processes Instrumentation, experimentation and data collection
  • thermodynamic modelling describing bio/functional compounds as well as multi-phase and multi-scale models describing product formulations and processing technologies
  • advanced dynamic model-based in-silico tools of optimization, monitoring and control algorithms and methods for the sustainable design and operation of optimal process configurations
  • process synthesis, process design, tools integration and multi-criteria sustainability assessment.

There will be poster presentation opportunities available as part of the conference to enhance networking and reach out. Interested participants in presenting contributions of results (both ongoing research and published) are invited to submit a one-page-abstract and register on the conference website. We have a maximum of 80 participants in total and we accept on a first come, first served basis.
