IChemE reveals programme for CHEMUK 2024

IChemE is excited to announce its attendance at CHEMUK 2024, which will take place at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, UK between 15 and 16 May 2024.
The two-day event is now firmly established as the UK’s largest annual chemical, laboratory, and process industries supply chain expo and speaker programme, with over 500 specialist exhibitors and more than 100 expert speakers set to attend the show.
IChemE will be stationed at stand Q20 for the expo’s duration, with staff from across the Institution on hand to greet guests, liaise with apprenticeship providers, demonstrate the benefits of membership and discuss the relevance of achieving Chartered status.
Away from the stand, perspectives on the challenges faced by various sectors when ‘scaling up’ will be offered during an IChemE mini-conference entitled ‘Towards sustainable production: the scaling up challenge’, on 15 May, 10:30–12:00, Stage 4.
This mini-conference will define how scaling up relates to delegates and their professions, highlight recent successes that have helped shape company/sector learning and knowledge transfer in this area, and explore how members of the chemical and process engineering community can use their expertise to manage resources appropriately.
It will feature contributions from a range of notable guest speakers, with discussions covering areas such as the best ways to access the global supply chain, the impact of disruptive technologies, and how to deal with changing clients and suppliers.
Guest speakers include:
- Mark Apsey MBE: senior vice president, Ameresco and IChemE Deputy President
- Chris Hamlin: co-founder and lead advisor, HancockHamlin; vice chair, IChemE Process Management and Control Special Interest Group; and IChemE Fellow
- Rob Peeling: technical services director, Britest Limited; IChemE Fellow; and chair of IChemE Congress
- Dr James Winterburn: senior lecturer in chemical engineering, University of Manchester; associate editor, Biochemical Engineering journal: and chair, IChemE Biochemical Engineering Special Interest Group
- Anna Parsons: associate director, chemical development, AstraZeneca
- Dr Andy Ingram: associate professor, chemical engineering, University of Birmingham
IChemE President Nigel Hirst and CEO Yvonne Baker OBE are also scheduled to attend the event as part of its daily keynote speaker programme and will deliver speeches to delegates on 15 May, 12:00–12:20, Stage 4 and 16 May, 11:00– 11:20, Stage 4, respectively.
