Overview

Hard-to-abate industries such as cement and glass manufacture will be dependent on technologies like carbon capture to achieve deep decarbonisation, because CO2 is inherently produced in these processes. Even if they were to be powered entirely by carbon-free fuels, they would still produce large amounts of CO2 and continue to contribute to climate change. Absorption-based carbon capture is not a new technology. However, its application to certain hard-to-abate industries has proven challenging for a number of reasons. At C-Capture we have developed a ground-breaking absorption-based carbon capture process that addresses these challenges and provides step-change improvements in process performance.

Speaker

George Wright, C-Capture

George is the lead process engineer at C-Capture, leading a team of engineers within the delivery team to design C-Capture technology solutions for industry. He joined the company in 2019 as a process engineer focused on research and development and also spent a year working as a proposal engineer in the commercialisation team.

George graduated from Imperial College London with an MEng in chemical engineering. Throughout his degree, George obtained a breadth of experience in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), working with Imperial's amine-based CCS pilot plant and undertaking his master's project in post combustion CCS using solid adsorbents.
