Overview

In this talk, there will be a case study sharing on CO2 captured from a chemical plant which is purified before being used as raw material to produce Sodium Bicarbonate. The sharing will cover aspect such as impurities identification from CO2, purification requirements and other issues/lessons.CO2 captured and utilization is gaining increasing interest globally in the effort to reduce GHG emission. In one way,

CO2 capture will optimize the OPEX by not subjected to the Carbon tax, while getting premium on sales or producing the wide range of Co2 derivatives. CO2 has vast application in industries, ranging from food and pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry such as urea production, cleaning agents manufacturing, water treatment, fire retardants etc.

Kalpesh Unadkat, Staff Engineer (Process Design), PETRONAS Group Technical Solutions

Kalpesh is working as Technical Professional - Process Design with the Group Technical Solution department of PETRONAS for more than seven years. Overall, he has more than 22 years of Industry experience, which includes Process Design, Troubleshooting, FEED, Detailed Design, Project Execution, Commissioning and start-up. His vast range of experience includes working with the engineering Consultancy firm, L&T- Chiyoda and one of the largest Oil and Gas firm, Reliance Industries Limited.

Lim Lee Fong, Staff Engineer (Process Design), PETRONAS Group Technical Solutions

Lim is working as engineer in Process Design with Group Technical Solution department of PETRONAS. She joined GTS almost four years ago. Overall, her working experience is within manufacturing, process design, troubleshooting, FEED and Detailed Design. She is involved in the CO2 capture project from a chemical plant to producing Sodium Bicarbonate and would like to share some of the lessons learnt.
