Webinar: The Anaerobic Digestion of Lipids: Principles, Advances and Perspectives on an Untapped Resource
  • Date From 30th March 2023
  • Date To 30th March 2023
  • Price Free of charge, open to all.

Overview

Lipids are natures energy store and for humans and bacteria difficult to breakdown. The anaerobic digestion of waste lipids in wastewater or solid digestion systems offers a large energy resource. To date this has not been utilised due to inhibition and issues lipids cause to the systems. This webinar outlines the principles, advances and perspectives of the field and the use of lipids in anaerobic systems.

Speaker

B Conall Holohan, Chief Scientific Officer, NVP Energy, CNVP Energy & University of Galway

Conall received his BSc in biochemistry from the University of Galway (Ireland) and followed that by studying a PhD in anaerobic environmental microbiology. His thesis on anaerobic digestion of lipids included the setting up of the ADLipids Network. As an environmental microbiologist Conall has lead the development of anaerobic wastewater treatment across industrial and municipal wastewaters previously not treated anaerobically. He is continuing to unlock resources through anaerobic process, including the commercialisation ambirobic technology for anaerobic sewage treatment at low-temperatures.
