London & South East Coast Young Member Forum is celebrating the end of a successful year with their Annual Christmas Lecture. This year they are proud to have Prof. Stephen Curry speaking on "Strength in Diversity: thinking differently about who gets to work in STEM".

The event will close with an awards ceremony for our 1st Short Paper Competition, theme: "Why I became a Chemical Engineer". Abstract invited to talk: The triumvirate of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are on the march, across society and within universities.

For many, particularly people in under-represented groups, the re-thinking that this entails is long overdue. For others, often those who benefit from the status quo, it is yet another example of political correctness gone mad. In his talk, Prof. Stephen Curry, will discuss why he thinks that opening up science, engineering, technology and medicine to all people is the only way to ensure that these disciplines operate at their most productive and target their efforts at the world’s most pressing problems.

Professor Stephen Curry, Professor of Structural Biology at Imperial College London

As well as being a Professor for Imperial College, Stephen also serves as the Assistant Provost for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
