Overview

This course will help you to develop a broad understanding of sustainability and its application to the chemical and process industries.

Centred around the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the course covers how they relate to the industries that chemical and process engineers work in. This includes what the issues are, the responsibility of businesses and organisations to take a sustainability-first approach, and how chemical engineers can use their skills to help their business achieve their own goals that will, in turn, contribute to achieving the UN SDGs.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you will:

  • understand the contributions that chemical and process engineers can make to the delivery of sustainability
  • understand how chemical and process engineering principles can contribute to sustainability
  • be aware of the sustainability issues, obligations, and responsibilities of chemical and process engineers
  • have a better understanding of ‘sustainability thinking’.

Who will benefit

  • Chemical and process engineers at any stage of their career seeking to broaden their sustainability knowledge, and its application in the chemical and process industries
  • Others whose activities impact the sustainability performance of their organisation

Previous delegates said

"This course serves as an excellent introduction to sustainability in the field of process engineering. The case study was really well put together and the break out exercises were perfect for getting a break from the slides and also applying the learning to a practical example. There were also some great, eye-opening statistics provided throughout the course."
D Walton, TÜV Rheinland, UK

"My past experience learning about sustainability was dull and boring. I enjoyed seeing a new spin into it with the case study."
M Goncalves, Siemens, UK
