Overview

This year the Annual General Meeting will be held in Wellington at Aurecon in the Asteron centre. The Postgraduate Researcher of the Year competition will be held prior to the AGM. Following the meeting the Kennedy Wunsch lecture will be presented by Max Kennedy.

The event will be in person and online.

Speaker

Max Kennedy

Max, a biochemical engineer, has had a varied career in research, industry and government. Most recently he was Manager of Contestable Investments at the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) which invests the majority of the NZ Government’s Research funds.

Max has expertise in investing in research in the biological economy ie the primary sector and products made from these resources including dairy, meat, seafood, wood, wool, kiwifruit, wine, arable products, food for health, food safety and food processing. Max led MBIE’s COVID Innovation Acceleration Fund to support research to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Max received his doctorate in Biochemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Max has been Chair of SCENZ – IChemE in New Zealand and Chair of The Australian and New Zealand Federation of Chemical Engineers (ANZFChE) and is a Fellow of IChemE.
