Drax Power Station Visit

Drax Power Station Visit
  • Date From 19th July 2024
  • Date To 19th July 2024
  • Price £5.
  • Location Drax Power Station, Selby, North Yorkshire YO8 8PH.

Drax Power Station supplies 6% of the country’s electricity needs, including 15% of its renewable power. To do this, Drax operates on a massive scale, having six boilers, each as high as a 15-storey office block, a main chimney taller than the London Eye, and over 1,800 miles of steel tubing, enough to stretch from John O’Groats to Land’s End and back again. On this tour, you can see it all first-hand and it’s just £5!

The site visit will include an interactive session and guided walks inside the very heart of the station. The tour will last for 2 - 2.5 hours and due to the nature of the operational site, Drax is unable to offer disabled access for this tour, all attendees must be able to navigate approximately 90 stairs (4 floors).

Please join us at the Huntsman at DRAX (105 Main Rd, Drax, Selby YO8 8NT) for refreshments afterwards

Allergy Information

Drax Power Station has been trailing the use of peanut shells since 2018.

Peanut shell pellets are made up of the bits of shell left after the peanut has been removed. The goal of the production process is 0% peanut content left in the pellet. The peanut is separated from the shell.
Whilst every effort is made to remove the nut content completely, there may still be a minimal risk of exposure.
If any members of your group have any concerns, please contract the Community and Education Team through: Email at or telephone 01757 612797.
