Overview

POPSIG Technical University Roadshow aims to educate students about the accurate information and benefits of palm oil. The virtual event is organised by POPSIG, in conjunction with Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC). It is in collaboration with SUTS IChemE Student Chapter, Curtin Malaysia IChemE Student Chapter, UMP IChemE Student Chapter, UiTM IChemE Student Chapter, Taylors IChemE Student Chapter and Curtin Malaysia Student Council.

Keynote speakers

Anna Zulkifli, Executive, Science, Environment and Sustainability Division, Malaysian Palm Oil Council

Topic: The Palm Oil Controversy

Anna Zulkifli is currently an Executive attached to the Science, Environment & Sustainability Division of the MPOC. A team member of the Environment & Sustainability section, current portfolio includes supporting the mission of MPOC in promoting the Malaysian palm oil branding focusing on issues on environment, sustainability, and wildlife conservation. She is trained as a wildlife ecologist, and graduated with an MSc in Ecology from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in 2013.

Peer Mohamed Abdul, Senior Lecturer, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia 

Dr Peer Mohamed, a senior lecturer at the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, UKM, obtained his bachelor's degree in Biochemical-Biotechnology Engineering from the International Islamic University Malaysia (lIUM) in 2010 and his PhD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2016. He currently serves as the manager of UKM-Yayasan Sime Darby Chair for Sustainability, an endowment chair supported by the Yayasan Sime Darby in support of sustainable research in the field of Oil Palm Processing and Climate Change. His research experts are mainly in the bioenergy field with a special focus on hydrogen technology and research interest in oil palm biomass utilisation for value-added products. He has published more than 50 international journals, served as a quest editor for International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, and published two books in the biohydrogen field.

Nuruljannah Khairuddin, R&D Engineer, Green Lagoon Technology Sdn Bhd, Malaysia

Dr Nuruljannah Khairuddin is from Batu Pahat, Johor and is an Industrial Panel for Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She has a Bachelor's in Environmental Studies from Universiti Malaysia Sabah and a PhD in Pollution Control and Technology from UPM. She has worked at Green Lagoon Technology Sdn Bhd for 2.5 years as an R&D Engineer. Her interest and expertise are in waste minimisation, waste to profit, pollution control, and treatment technology.
