POPSIG maiden exhibition at CEO DAY@UKM 2023

Overview

CEO Day @ UKM was jointly organised by Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and the Department of Food Sciences, Faculty of Science & Technology (FST), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). This event provided a platform for students to engage in knowledge and experience sharing session with industry leaders on career and internship opportunities.

Opening ceremony

CEO DAY was officiated by the Director General of Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) YBhg. Datuk Dr. Ahmad Parveez Haji Ghulam Kadir at Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Razak (DECTAR), UKM. He was joined by the Acting CEO of MPOC YBrs. Pn. Belvinder Sron and the Pro Naib Canselor (Development and Infrastructure) of UKM Professor Dr. Norhamidi Muhamad on the stage.

CEO forum

The CEO forum was chaired by the Director of Science, Environment and Sustainability Division (SESD) of MPOC YBrs. Dr. Ruslan Abdullah, representing the Acting CEO of MPOC YBrs. Pn. Belvinder Sron. He was joined by the five panellists:

  • CEO of Malaysian Palm Oil Association (MPOA), YBrs. En. Joseph Tek Choon Yee
  • Professor at UPM, YBhg. Professor Datin Paduka Dr. Khatijah Yusof
  • Managing Director of Les’ Opaque, Tn. Hj. Burhanuddin Md. Radzi
  • Group Chief Marketing Officer of Domino’s Pizza Malaysia, Singapore & Cambodia, Pn. Hasfahlinda Binti Mohamed Hassan
  • CEO of Munch World Marketing Sdn Bhd, En. Rodney Wong Kai Heng

POPSIG exhibition

POPSIG was delighted to record over 300 visitors at POPSIG booth. The team introduced the upcoming activities in 2023 with more attractive prizes (proudly sponsored by MPOC) to the students.  All activities at POPSIG are free of charge, otherwise stated. POPSIG also looked forward to working closely with MPOB, MPOC, MPOGCF, FGV, UKM-YSD, KLK on the upcoming engagements.

POPSIG also introduced our sponsor Desmet Malaysia Sdn Bhd at our booth. They have been our strong partner on our journey since 2015. POPSIG also shared about the contributions made by the representatives of Endress+Hauser (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to POPSIG activities in 2021 and 2022.

Sustainable Production Innovation from Palm Waste competition

YBhg. Professor The Chair Professor Ir Dr Chong Mei Fong was delighted to be invited to evaluate the candidates of Sustainable Product Innovation from Palm Waste competition at the CEO DAY. YBhg. Professor The Chair and POPSIG congratulated all the winners and the recipients and thanked all the participants for their great work.
