Neil is a Principal Nuclear Safety Inspector with specific responsibilities related to chemical engineering within UK’s Office for Nuclear Regulation’s division for Sellafield, Decommissioning, Fuel and Waste. He has also been the Chair of the OECD NEA’s Working Group on Fuel Cycle Facilities since 2020.

He has over 40 years’ experience, with 36 of those in the nuclear sector. In the last 20 years Neil has covered all aspects of nuclear safety regulation including policy, new reactors, nuclear safeguards, nuclear chemical plant and nuclear waste management. 20 years of these have been at an international expert level including a significant period managing a large safety research portfolio for the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency in Paris.

Neil was a founder member of the IChemE’s Learned Society Committee and is now part of the Technical Advisory Group for the IChemE’s Sustainability Hub.
